River Valley Primary School is committed to achieving year on year growth for each student. To facilitate this, every student's academic and social needs are identified, monitored and obtained via an individualised case management approach.

Our mission is to create a strong sense of belonging, where students feel safe and secure to grow in confidence and ability. Our classes are multi-age grouped and our students have frequent opportunities to engage with their peers in every year level.

Staff regularly engage in professional learning and use contemporary, research-based teaching methods. Our teachers use techniques that have each student working on tasks that engage and challenge them to achieve their personal best. Whole school approaches are embedded in school practice and all staff have ownership for the school improvement process.

We have a purpose built Kindergarten/Pre Primary centre in the main building. Our specialised team of early childhood teachers and education assistants provide innovative and engaging programs integrating the Early Years Learning Framework with the Western Australian Curriculum. The school has a strong focus on literacy and numeracy; with early intervention and extension for identified students.

Our positive and challenging teaching programs allow all students to develop the necessary knowledge and skills to become confident independent learners. Multi aged grouping is a feature of the school allowing for extension and remediation for students.

River Valley Primary School students consistently earn entrance into a range of local senior high schools that offer academic and extension programs. For students residing in Roelands, the local intake high school is Australind Senior High School; for students residing in Burekup, the local intake high school is Bunbury Senior High School. River Valley Primary School implements a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) strategy, which helps to create positive learning environments. Our school values, defined by the community, guide the behaviour of everyone in our school; staff, students, parents and community members. This is achieved by developing proactive systems to define, teach and support appropriate student behaviour. Our school values reflect our desire to see students be ambitious and strive for success, to take responsibility for their learning and to care for others. Our values are Resilience, Responsibility and Respect (3R's).

Students are taught in modern well resourced classrooms. Pre-Primary and Kindergarten students have their own outdoor play area. Students have access to the community oval, tennis courts and basketball courts. The school is fully air-conditioned, providing a pleasant learning environment all year round.
